There are car ferry sailings from Oban on the Scottish mainland and from Lochboisdale , South Uist to Castlebay, Barra and from the adjacent island of Eriskay to Ardmhor, Barra. These ferries can link up with sailings from Ullapool-Lochmaddy and Uig( Skye)- Lochmaddy.
There will be a considerable reduction in fares for both passengers and vehicles following the introduction of RET (road equivalent tariff) in autumn 2008
